Kim Harrell is a silversmith and jewelry artist who makes distinctly textured and clean lined jewelry, hollow-ware and object d’art using precious metals and occasionally other materials. Originally from Denver, Colorado, Kim studied at the London Metropolitan University, Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design where she obtained her B.A. in Silversmithing, Jewelry and Allied Crafts in the United Kingdom. Currently a resident of Aurora, Colorado, Kim runs a professional designer/maker studio and teaches at The Art Students League of Denver, Community College of Aurora and privately in her studio. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections in the USA and Europe.
“The art I create is informed by a philosophy of ‘less is more’ with an emphasis on shape, line, edges and texture. How I design and make reflects the process and how I see the world. Through intentional manipulation and marriage of my chosen materials, the quality of each is distinguished and together they create a new thing. I want people to wonder at the surprising beauty and simplicity in materials and how someone thought to put them together.”
